I was originally planning to post this entry several days ago after I came back — it’s been a long week (and those of you who have been following me on twitter know just how long).
A while back I wrote a “Poem for WABB” – you can still find it online at https://mviron.wordpress.com/2012/02/21/poem-for-wabb/ if you’d like to see it. As the days started winding down, I decided to print 5 copies of the poem, sign them, and hand-deliver them to the last remaining on-air staff. I chose to do so at the End of An Era party that WABB hosted at O’Daly’s Irish Pub on February 29, 2012.
Little did I know what an impression such a small thing for me to do would make. From the very first minute as I started the walk to O’Daly’s Irish Pub, I was treated like family by all of the on-air staff, and was even greeted by name. All of them, Blondie, Producer Heather, Intern Alyssa, Nick Fox, Q-Tip, Jammer, Cherish, and so many others in their immediate circle are extraordinary and talented individuals — they have a true passion for whatever they do, and it shows.
In closing, thank you to the WABB family for making me feel welcome and part of the family. I appreciated every minute I spent meeting and getting to know all of you, and I can only hope that circumstances permit us to meet again. Please keep in touch! (By the way, for those of you I didn’t personally deliver a copy of the poem to — if you still don’t have it, contact Intern Alyssa — she’s the keeper of them.)
